5 steps to Book your ring making Workshop

Would you like to indulge in experience of making your own wedding rings, but unsure where to start?

I’ve put together some simple steps to help you understand the process and book your workshop.

1. Let’s have a chat.

There are a number of things both you and I will want to chat about before you commit to your workshop. This initial appointment creates space for us to have an informal chat about what it is you are looking for and what I can provide. We will discuss the ideas you have for your rings; including materials, shape, size and finish (would you prefer polished or matte for example). This initial meeting can take place over zoom or by appointment in person at my studio.

2. Quote and Confirm

Once we have chatted about the style, size and selected your material choice for your rings, I will put together a quote to confirm all the details discussed and price. If you are happy with these details, the next step is to book the date for your workshop. This date is then confirmed by 50% non-refundable deposit payment. At this stage I will send a confirmation email with details of what you will need to bring on the day etc.

3. Workshop Day

On the day of your workshop you’ll be greeted at the studio with a lovely mug of tea/coffee, introduced to the space and we can get on with making. The morning will be dedicated to introducing you the process and practicing the technique in silver. After a lovely hour lunch break we will get going with your actual rings! At the end of the day you can take your practice rings home to show off to family and friends but leave your wedding rings to be hallmarked.

4. Hallmarking and Finishing

Sheffield Assay Office will ‘assay’ your rings which means they test the metal to check it is what it claims to be. Once they have performed this check they will laser their certification onto the inside of your ring, this is the ‘hallmark’. The hallmark is a legal requirement for pieces over a particular weight but is also a mark confirming the quality of the material. This process can take up to 2 weeks, so please allow for this within your timeline.

Once the pieces are safely back at my studio and beautifully packaged, I will be in touch to arrange delivery or collection.

5. The Big Day - Your Wedding!

All that’s left to do is enjoy your special day and allow your gorgeous handmade wedding bands to be admired by your guests.

F.A.Q

What material choices are there?

The studio is set up for working with either Sterling Silver or Gold. If you would like to choose gold the options are: 9ct Rose Gold, 9ct or 18ct White Gold and 9ct or 18ct Yellow Gold.

How much will it cost?

The price really depends on the style and material you choose for your ring. The basic package starts at around £250 per person, which includes lunch, silver and standard hallmarking. Materials are then added onto this as each couple is unique in what they would like, taking into account their ring sizes, the carat of metal they wish to have and price of material on the day.

How long will it take?

This is designed as a one day workshop and runs from 10-4.30pm - this includes 1 hour for lunch. Please allow an additional 2 weeks for hallmarking time.

Do I need any previous experience?

No - this is suitable for total beginners

Where is the workshop?

Yorkshire Artspace, Persistence Works, 21 Brown Street, Sheffield, S1 2BS

Is there parking?

There are parking spaces outside the building, payable by phone or using the meter.
